From 23 to 25 January 2026, the Municipality of Ponte de Lima, in partnership with the Confraternity of Arroz de Sarrabulho à Moda de Ponte de Lima, promoted the Gastronomic Weekend dedicated to the village's most emblematic dish — the first after European recognition as a Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (EU Reg. 2025/98).
Event figures
- 27 participating restaurants throughout the municipality
- 10% discount at participating hotels (Friday and Saturday nights)
- Leite-creme offered at Saturday and Sunday meals by the participating restaurants
Cultural programme
The programme included:
- Parade through the streets of the Historic Centre with a final show at Largo de Camões
- Presentation of a book dedicated to Arroz de Sarrabulho
- Showcooking by Chef Álvaro Costa at the Torre da Cadeia Velha

The event marked the first major gastronomic moment following European certification, attracting visitors from all over the country and reinforcing Ponte de Lima's position as a leading gastronomic destination in Northern Portugal.
